1000th Baby of the Year
Nov 07, 2016
Staff at Greenslopes Private Hospital have delivered their 1000th baby of the year! To say the arrival of little Franki was a surprise to her mother and father is an understatement: she was born at just 33 weeks.
Franki Melissa Kitchener weighed 1.68kg (3.7 pounds) when she was born on Melbourne Cup Day (the equivalent of approximately four tins of tomatoes!). Her mum Toni thought she was taking the afternoon off work to get a scan, but due to complications, ended up giving birth instead.
The newborn’s parents (Toni from Brisbane and Ian from England) are besotted with their baby daughter, who is also a little sister to 19 month old Löki.
Franki was delivered by obstetrician Dr Ken Law, and is now being cared for by a dedicated team in the Special Care Nursery at Greenslopes Private Hospital.
